My guess is never. They'll keep inventing one DRM encumbered format after
the other, because there's nothing forcing them to abandon this silly quest.
That is, unless we, the customers, explain to them, in law, that we don't
like this kind of stuff, that we think we'd have better, cheaper and more
versataile content without it, and that we won't tollerate silly ideologies

I've received a dozen of forms with 43 signatures. Since we will not
manage to get the 50'000, I suppose it's time to end the collect.

- What should I do with the signatures? Recycle the paper or send them

I didn't miss your point, I'm just pointing out to you that when they say:
"yeah our customers love DRM free and we're going to give it to them!" what
they mean is:
"until we've figured out how to screw you over better, we'll play Mr. nice
guy."
and what they do is: _Everybody_ except Apple and Amazon have to continue to

Just in case you missed my point: they apparently think it's a good
idea to market their stuff as being DRM-free. To me, that means that a
lot of their customers are aware of what DRM is and why they should
reject it.

Another one of the best arguments why this law isn't required, and may turn
out to be quite harmfull. Now that the market is self-regulating a new law
encouraging the wrong thing comes into effect.
Despite that good news, which is a few days old btw. it's not all nice now.
I'll explain to you why.

Yes you've missed a lot actually.
You do know that there's a trusted computing initiative and what they do of
course. Now if you combine trusted computing hardware with DRM you have a
consumer unfriendly ecosystem of content and devices, that's quite obvious
to see, and is easely demonstrated by say, HD monitors and HD content from

I think it can be done, but it is way more difficult. Everybody thinks
he/she's an expert, when it comes to taxes, naturalization, or even
GMOs or nuclear power plants. Because everybody has heard about it at
