Link Extensions and mobile users

I'm finally taking the plunge and building a site in 1.2 after years
of working with 1.1.
I love the way that xml files are put in the view subfolder and I'm
hoping there's an equally simple solution for mobile users.
My thoughts were that I could create a subfolder called 'mob' and when
a user goes to [link] they're automatically served

Nothing stopping you putting things in the model.
The "fat model" principle is recommended by lots of people.
Generally I've been baking my controllers to get some basic functionality,
then replacing the baked methods with far simplier methods, and moving all
the data retrieval over to the model....leaving the controller to take care

Hey guys, thank you everyone for your insights and suggestions!
First of all, this is an experiment, a proof of a concept I thought
about for a while, and it wasn't meant to replace anything that works
well. I actually thought of it as something that I, myself, would find
useful and convenient, and maybe I am the only person in the world

I had to download the screencasts and viewed them on my ipod
I feel that the screencasts should be displayed within flash and have option
to download
I think quicktime is often problematic

I've got the latest Quicktime installed.
I see the Quicktime frame (QT logo shows briefly), then within the
frame, all I'm seeing is the CakePHP logo.
It's not clickable or anything (to play it), it's just sitting there.
There's no information to tell me what to do, so I've just let it sit
there (thinking it's buffering), but no gold.

Please correct me if I am wrong...
I think Cakephp breaks the mvc pattern
If I call a controller action, lets say /post/add
And I have to do a lot of logical stuff including sending an email, i
think the controller action would be this:
function add() {
if ($this->Post->myModelFunction) {
$this->flash() .....

This isn't a problem with CakePHP.
Short tags are an INI setting within your PHP installation.
Furthermore short tags are being completely removed or deprecated in
future PHP versions, so its just best practice to stop using them.

I understand the RPX setup but for this idea where you just enter your email
and a verification like gets sent to your email to click login mkes no sense
what so ever.
I waited 2 mins to get my confirmation email..by then I said to hell with it

The answer is to use RPX and one of the many providers, like Google,
OpenID, Twitter, whatever.
After the initial registration - which you can do when you're not at
your buddys house - all you ever need is username/password.
And that's neat. :)

deleteQuery not working?

Hi folks!
I think this time I need some help.
In my application I have Extension(s) and Codec(s); they are joined
together by an Extension hasAndBelongToMany Codec relationship.
The tables involved in the process are:
* tab_extensions
* tab_codecs
* tab_extension_codecs
When I delete an extension, I just flag it as deleted but I don't

OK, I have tracked down a minimal test case and it seems to be nothing to
do with CakePHP. So sorry for the noise.
Just FYI, the following minimal php script produces the Fatal error,
even outside CakePHP, so it seems to be something in the php
installation.

Hello,
I'm developing my first cakephp application for an internal work
project.
this project is supposed to be a hardware pool administration, with
users that can check out/in items from different hardware pools. Users
can have access to several pools, and there are admin users for every
pool who are allowed to add new users and modify the items other users
